Hainan Airlines Moves Pudong T2 Check-in to Island B
From 26 October 2026, Hainan Airlines is moving the check-in counters for its international departures from Shanghai Pudong International Airport Terminal 2. The counters shift from Island C, C31-36, to Island B, B29-34, so passengers departing from or connecting at Pudong need to use the new area.
- When it takes effect: from 26 October 2026. From that date, Hainan Airlines international flights departing from Pudong Terminal 2 use the new counters.
- What changes: the counters move from Island C, C31-36, in Terminal 2 to Island B, B29-34, in Terminal 2.
- Who is affected: only Hainan Airlines international departures from Pudong Terminal 2. The terminal itself does not change; you still fly from T2.
- Getting through the airport: follow the terminal signs to Island B for check-in and baggage drop, then complete border inspection and security screening before going to your gate.
- The airline's advice: Hainan Airlines asks passengers to check terminal information before travel and to arrive at the airport early enough to complete formalities and avoid missing the flight.
Pudong airport has two terminals, T1 and T2, and going to the wrong one is one of the most common mistakes on international departures. This change stays inside the same terminal, moving from Island C to Island B, but for passengers arriving close to departure time the extra walk can eat into the queues at border inspection and security.
Foreign passengers should present their passport and a valid Chinese visa at check-in; those travelling visa-free should show the passport and the supporting documents that match the visa-free arrangement they rely on. The name on the document must match the booking. International departures normally involve check-in and baggage drop, border inspection, security screening and the gate, and every queue takes time, so allow more buffer than you would for a domestic flight. Exact cut-off times follow the airline's and airport's announcements for the day.
The above is a summary of key points only. Please refer to the official announcement for the authoritative version.
