- 预防措施：入境后即把护照资料页、签证页、入境验讫章与住宿登记凭证拍照留存，并与原件分开存放；日常外出只带复印件，原件放酒店保险箱。
关于受理机关与时限：证件补办与签证补办由各地公安机关出入境管理机构受理，受理窗口、材料细节与办理时限存在地区差异，务必以受理机关当场告知和当地官方发布为准。补办完成前，你的入境记录与停留期限仍按原入境时的规定计算，逾期停留的风险不会因为正在补办而自动消失，出现这种情况应主动向受理机关说明。

Lost Your Passport in China: Reporting, Replacement and Visa Re-issuance
If you lose your passport in China, the usual path has three steps: report the loss to the local public security bureau and obtain a loss report, contact your country's embassy or consulate in China for a replacement passport or travel document, then apply to the exit-entry administration where you are staying to re-issue your visa or residence permit. Skipping any step can block you at departure.
- Step one, report the loss: file a report with the public security bureau where the passport was lost or where you are staying, and keep the written report. This document is normally required both for the replacement passport and for the visa re-issuance, so keep the original and a photo backup.
- Step two, replace the travel document: contact your country's embassy or consulate in China and apply for a replacement passport; some countries issue a single-use emergency travel document instead. Required documents, processing time and fees are set by your own embassy or consulate.
- Step three, re-issue the visa or residence permit: with the new passport or travel document and the loss report, apply to the exit-entry administration of the public security bureau where you are staying to re-issue your visa or residence permit, or to update the document number on record.
- Documents usually requested: the new passport or travel document, the loss report, your accommodation registration slip, compliant photos, and copies or photos of the old passport and visa. Students should also bring a letter from their school, employees a letter from their employer.
- While the paperwork is pending: do not attempt to leave China before the visa or residence permit is re-issued, and avoid booking non-refundable tickets. If your travel plans are tight, ask the local exit-entry administration or the National Immigration Administration's 12367 service line first.
- Prevention: as soon as you arrive, photograph your passport data page, visa page, entry stamp and accommodation registration slip, and store the copies separately from the original. Carry copies day to day and leave the original in a hotel safe.

Reception counters, document details and processing times vary by locality, so follow what the receiving office tells you in person and what local authorities publish.
