Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam Added to China's 240-Hour Visa-Free Transit
The National Immigration Administration (NIA) has issued Announcement No. 4 of 2026: from August 20, 2026, citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam are covered by China's 240-hour visa-free transit policy and by Hainan's 30-day visa-free entry policy.
- Effective date: from August 20, 2026, the 240-hour visa-free transit policy and Hainan's 30-day visa-free entry policy apply to citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam.
- Country coverage: the number of countries covered by the 240-hour visa-free transit policy rises to 57, and the number covered by Hainan's 30-day visa-free entry policy rises to 61.
- Conditions for transit: citizens of the two countries holding ordinary passports and connecting tickets with confirmed dates and itineraries may enter China visa-free from 65 open ports, including Beijing and Shanghai, when transiting to a third country or region, and may stay visa-free for no more than 240 hours within the designated areas.
- Conditions for Hainan: citizens of the two countries holding ordinary passports may enter through open ports of Hainan Province and stay visa-free within the province for no more than 30 days.
